This presentation by Carla Sofka will provide a review of funeral and mourning customs spanning the past 250+ years. In addition to traditional practices and modern variations on those practices, the talk will highlight examples of mourning customs that have evolved as a result of digital technology and artificial intelligence - “thanatechnology” (a word coined by the presenter in 1996).
