Springfield Tourism Numbers Are Strong Through First Three Quarters of 2025

Springfield, Ill., October 21, 2025 -  According to STR reports, 597,159 hotel rooms night have been sold in the City of Springfield in 2025 from January – September resulting in almost 9,000 more hotel room nights sold year to date vs. 2024.

Local events such as the World Clydesdale Show, Illinois State Fair, Springfield Mile, Farm Progress Show and International Route 66 Mother Road Festival along with strong leisure travel have contributed to the increase.

Revenue Per Available Room (RevPar), a key hotel indicator, has risen 4.9% year over year.  As a result, 2025 hotel revenue and local hotel taxes collected is forecasted to surpass 2024 despite fewer hotel rooms being available due to the closure of the Wyndham City Centre.

“The state of tourism in Springfield is strong.  Four of the past five years have realized record traveler expenditures in Sangamon County and 2025 looks to continue the upward trajectory.  Springfield will welcome tens of thousands of new visitors from across the globe, in 2026 as the SCHEELS Sports Park at Legacy Pointe officially opens, the nation celebrates the Route 66 Centennial & America 250th and North American cities host the FIFA World Cup.”
