Octagon granite walls provide the foundation for this breathtaking monument. The names of the nearly 2,000 Illinois veterans killed in action are engraved on the granite walls as well as quotes from all branches of the Armed Forces. Surrounded by 300 Rose of Sharon Bushes, this memorial is located in Oak Ridge Cemetery near the Lincoln Tomb.
