Edwards Place was home to Benjamin and Helen Edwards and tells the story of social and domestic life in antebellum Springfield. A center for social activity, prominent citizens and politicians such as Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas were entertained at lavish dinner parties and picnics. Your visit to Edwards Place will include a tour of this wonderful Italianate mansion and its fascinating collection of furnishings, including the "courting couch" on which Mary and Lincoln sat while they were courting.
