Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Statue
A 300-lb. bronze statue of a 26 year old Martin Luther King, Jr. was first unveiled on January 14, 1988. King is the first non-Illinois resident to be honored with a statue. The statue is located at “Freedom Corner,” facing the Abraham Lincoln statue across from the Illinois State Capitol.
