We're not joking either when we say that you could spend so much time here enjoying scrumptious delicacies you might forget you have to get to our amazing attractions.
Our taste buds are watering just thinking about it.

We're not saying we're the home of the Simpsons or anything but our famous donut shop, Mel-o-Cream Donuts has been serving them up locally since 1932. Doh is right!

Or how about Pease's Fine Candy & Salted Nuts making old fashioned, homemade candies and treats for over 75 years.

Don't count out the new guy though. Cocoa Blue Chocolates in Rochester creates artistic, luxurious, and delicious chocolates made from only the finest ingredients.

And we would be remiss without mentioning the grandeur of the French bread and pastries available only at Incredibly Delicious, located inside the stunning Weber House.

You might be a little thirsty and we have you covered on several levels! Custom Cup Coffee specializes in creating small batch, custom, and roast to order coffee in the heart of Springfield.

The brewing trend continues in Springfield including Illinois Makers Engrained Brewing Company, Obed & Isaac's Microbrewery, and Buzz Bomb Brewing Company, as well as Hand of Fate in Petersburg. All offer a unique ambiance with great food to partner with your favorite brew.

Danenberger Family Vineyards, located on their family farm dating back to the mid 1800s, proves you can grow quality wine grapes in central Illinois that deliver exquisite results. Your visit to this artisan, boutique winery will be one of the highlights of your trip!

Grab a Bite to Eat

Iconic restaurants make the list too. Maldaner's, established here in 1884, respects tradition while offering the best of contemporary American fine dining in their historical downtown setting. Route 66 fans will definitely need a Cozy Dog from Cozy Dog Drive In, a third generation Waldmire family restaurant with their roots along the Mother Road, including famous Route 66 artist, Bob Waldmire. If you're looking for that perfect something to take back home, some fresh brats from Jones Boys Market in nearby Ashland might be just the ticket. And if you are cooking at home, don’t forget to get to stock up on all the homemade relishes, jams, pickles, & sauces at nearby Kathy’s Kitchen.

Historic Sign Museum

Ace Sign Company Sign Museum has some of the most amazing signage throughout Illinois and beyond. Inside you can find the famous "Sunrise Donuts" sign and other signs that pertain to Route 66. This attraction is a must see for all Route 66 fans!

Speaking of signs, bring home a one-of-a-kind handcrafted sign from Farmhouse Signs and Company to accent your house. And support a great cause when you shop Wooden It Be Lovely for candles, clothing, & other items. The shop brings hope and employment to women healing from poverty, addiction, and abuse.
