Bob Faust’s Ways & Means will be on the Illinois Governor's Mansion Lawn from October 22nd to November 4th. View this installation from outside the mansion gates or join the Illinois Governor's Mansion on Saturday, October 24th for trick-or-treating to get a special Ways & Means sticker pack! Ways and Means is a participatory public art initiative that reclaims the American flag as a platform for reflection, dialogue, and civic participation rather than a symbol of politicized nationalism. Designed by Chicago-based artist Bob Faust, the series consists of 12 transparent, double-layered flags, each of which carries a pair of tenets that reflect Faust's vision of a more inclusive American "we." Organized around the "ways" forward and the "means" by which to get there, the project is shaped by place and situation and as such, shapeshifts its form to meet them.
