The Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site invite visitors to "Voices of the Village," a program offered the first Sunday of every other month from May to November in the Visitor Center Auditorium at 1:00 PM. The hour-long program will be an interactive lecture featuring artifacts and various components of Lincoln’s New Salem history. Light refreshments will be served. Doors open at 12:30pm. Attendees can enjoy a musical prelude to the lecture starting at 12:45pm.
• Sunday, July 6th – Illinois College at New SalemIllinois College has a long history with New Salem. That relationship has continued in the modern era with Illinois College interns each summer for decades. Come hear from some of those interns as they detail their memories and connection with Lincoln’s New Salem as well as the history between the two places that stretch back to Abraham Lincoln himself.
