TALES FROM THE VAULT: CELEBRATING AMERICA'S INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM
Join the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in celebrating America’s independence and freedom – including a rare look at one of their collections most treasured documents – during a special edition of Tales of the Vault.
Join ALPLM Acquisitions Chief Ian Hunt for a look at items from the ALPLM’s vast collection that have a connection to America’s founding, highlighted by an opportunity to see their copy of the Gettysburg Address. Written in Lincoln’s hand, it’s only one of five copies in existence. Lincoln’s address connected the struggle of the Civil War to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and has since been regarded as one of the most powerful expressions of freedom and liberty.
This will be a “hybrid” event with the opportunity to attend in-person or virtually. The program will take place in the library’s multi-purpose room on Friday, July 8 at 12pm. The event is free; reservations are not required.
To watch virtually via Facebook Live, please go to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Facebook page.
