Here's some of our greatest 'instagrammable' spots that you can’t miss while visiting Springfield, Illinois.

The Lincoln Statue on the grounds of the Illinois State Capitol. Just head down Capitol Ave towards 2nd St. and you will run right into this perfect spot!!

 

What about the Rotunda inside the Illinois State Capitol? Since you are already here for the Lincoln Statue...head inside, look up and take a beautiful shot of the rotunda!

Pinky, The Pink Elephant hangs out in the parking lot of County Market & Burger Bar on 6th St. You can't miss her!! She's rocking the nerdy glasses and a martini glass. Pinky has been part of Springfield for over 45 years! 

 

The Wild Rose Mural is located on the side of a downtown boutique shop called Wide Rose. Located on 6th and Jefferson St., this mural was painted by local students with the Springfield Art Association. Be sure to check out this amazing piece of colorful art, and see what a great job these students did!!

 


Get your kicks on Route 66 by heading to the south side of Springfield to Motoheads Bar, Grill and Museum. Here you will find all the fun things that make Route 66 what it is today. Old gas station signs, tons of Route 66 memorabilia, classic cars and more. This is the perfect place to get that unique pic you've been wanting. 

Looking for Lincoln?? You can find an amazing piece on the side of the Alamo on 5th and Jefferson. It's a mural set back to a Young Abe Lincoln, the surveyor, when he lived in New Salem, before he moved to Springfield.

 

If luck is what you are looking for in your pic's...head out to Lincoln Tomb! Right in front, there is a bust of Lincoln, put that hand up and "Rub His Nose" and good luck will be all yours!!  

 


Since we are on a roll with Lincoln, how about the Lincoln Family...be sure to gather your clan around this bronze statue or have your little one high five young Tad Lincoln and snap a pic. How fun!! This is located on the Old State Capitol Plaza outside of the Springfield Visitors Center at Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices.


And don't forget about All the Lincoln's in the Plaza at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. Your family will blend right in with this crew! 


 


Check out DSI's Art Alley where for the past couple years local artist have gathered for a night in September and painted this alley way! How cool!! You can find this on 5th St. across from the Old State Capitol next to Downtown Springfield, Inc's office (just next to The Wakery Dry Bar and Coffee Shop). 

 

How about a large Teal Butterfly?? This butterfly mural on the side of Springfield Vintage was painted to help promote awareness and prevention of sexual assault! And an added bonus....there is a little butterfly next to for your little one to take a pic too!! So sweet!

 
Hop in your car and take a short, scenic drive around Lake Springfield to get to this guy!! This 9 foot troll was created by a group of students from the Springfield Art Associations summer camp. He sits at Lincoln Memorial Garden greeting all the nature lovers out there. Take a pic with him then be sure to take a stroll and take in all the beauty while here.
