So we’ve talked about Live Music at Boondocks now let’s talk a little bit about Live Theatre at one of our awesome venues!!

Theater, Broadway, music events, international events and children's programs, the University of Illinois Springfield Performing Arts Center (UIS PAC) hosts it all!

Let’s start with a little history…The Capital City was missing something and that something was a performing arts facility. So the community pulled together and brought us the UIS Performing Arts Center. They opened their doors in February 1981 and the fun still continues!! Throughout their history, audiences have experienced a broad spectrum of the highest quality of music, theater, and dance. Here are a few events that came in 2019, Jay Leno, RENT, The Phil Collins Experience, Gary Allen and FRIENDS! A Musical Parody. Want to see the complete show history?? Click here!

Along with hosting nationally known artists and acts, they are home to local organization like Illinois Symphony Orchestra and the Springfield Ballet Company that have performances here throughout the year.

Fun Fact: They are the only venue of this kind and size in Sangamon County, drawing audiences from a 14-county semi-rural region. How awesome is it that we have something like this in the Springfield community!
