The festivities don't just happen on the 4th of July.  There are several days of entertainment and a few nights fireworks in the Capital City. 

 July 1-2: Take a short drive to Lincoln's New Salem for their Independence Day Celebration.  There will be period demonstrations and a reading of the Declaration of Independence each day.

July 1-3: Don't miss your chance to see one of the most important documents in the nation's history, as the Abraham Presidential Library will have a copy of the Emanicpation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln on display.

July 3-4: Celebrate Amercia's pastime and come cheer the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes at Robin Roberts Stadium with a fireworks show after the game.  It's a fireworks double-header at the ball park, with postgame fireworks both July 3rd & July 4th 

July 4: The historic Elijah Iles House celebrates Independence Day annually with Clara Irwin's Strawberry Party.  Join them for live music and a reading of the Declaration of Independence

July 4: Have a rockin' 4th when you head over to the Levitt Amp concert in downtown Springfield.  Rockers Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown will perform at this FREE popular outdoor concert series on July 4th. 

July 4: After you've spent the day riding the water slides, floating on the lazy river, or hitting some golf balls at the driving range; stick around for live music and an awesome display of fireworks at Knights Action Park/Trade Winds 4th of July Fireworks Show & Concert.

July 5: Enjoy cold drinks, food, and Central Illinois' largest on water fireworks display at the Rock the Dock Independence Day Celebration.  Happening at the Lake Springfield Marina, the celebration also features live music.
