Edwards Place

Edwards Place was home to Benjamin and Helen Edwards and tells the story of social and domestic life in antebellum Springfield. A center for social activity, prominent citizens and politicians such as Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas were entertained at lavish dinner parties and picnics. Your visit to Edwards Place will include a tour of this wonderful Italianate mansion and its fascinating collection of furnishings, incluidng the courting couch on which Mary and Lincoln sat while they were courting. Open for tours Tu - F: 1 pm, 2pm, 3pm; Sa: Noon, 1pm 2 pm
