Fifty-six dancers, full sets, and magnificent costumes – it’s Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece ballet Swan Lake as you’ve never seen it before. First performed in St Petersburg, Russia in 1877, Swan Lake has become the world’s most famous, and indeed loved, classical ballet.
The St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre was founded in 1966 as the first Theatre of Ballet in Russia, under the management of the People's Artist of Russia, Professor Peter Gusev. Since then, the high traditions of Russian Ballet have been passed on to a younger generation of artists, both Russian and foreign.
