Rockford, Dixon & Springfield Illinois

Learn interesting facts about the lives of: Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Ronald Reagan

Day One, Rockford, IL

Abraham LincolnVisit Tinker Swiss Cottage where you’ll learn the history of The Manny Reaper and why (soon-to-be) President Abraham Lincoln was hired as his lawyer.

Stop at Memorial Hall where Civil War veterans and other citizens gathered to hear President Theodore Roosevelt speak.

Visit the Coronado Theater, where President John F. Kennedy stopped during his 1960 Presidential campaign.

Before calling it a day, head to the Historic Auto Attractions where you can find the world’s largest collection of Presidential and World Leaders’ automobiles. They also have one of the largest collections of Kennedy artifacts and memorabilia in the country.

Day Two, Dixon, IL

Ronald ReaganWalk in the footsteps of President Ronald Wilson Reagan. Learn about his boyhood and the community that formed his values. Stroll through the yard where our 40th president played football, worked in the family garden and helped raise rabbits with his older brother, Neil. Tour the home that the Reagan family resided in from 1920-1923, which has been completely restored. Meander through the newly remodeled Visitor Center and Gift Shop highlighting the Reagan legacy lifeline. And finally ... sit for a bit... in the Reagan Memorial Park.

Day Three, Springfield, IL

Abraham Lincoln Presidential MuseumDiscover some of America’s most significant history beginning with the new state-of the-art Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. This museum combines scholarship and showmanship to tell the story of America’s 16th President against a backdrop of the American Civil War. You’ll be entertained, educated and mesmerized by this world-class facility. For lunch, try Route 66’s famous Cozy Dog Drive In, home of the original hot dog on a stick. After lunch, depart for the New Salem Historic Site, a restored pioneer village where Lincoln lived and worked as a young man. In the evening, experience Lincoln’s Ghost Walk, a spooky tour of haunted spots you definitely didn’t see during the day.
